Living with braces

Whether you’re looking to get braces or are already in the process of treatment, here’s a helpful guide on proper brace care and our top tips for living with braces:

Are there foods should I avoid while wearing braces?

You should still be able to enjoy most of your favourite foods during treatment. For a smooth and efficient experience, here’s what we recommend you avoid to prevent damaging your brackets.

  • Sticky foods: Caramels, taffy, gum, sticky candies.
  • Hard or crunchy foods: Crusty sandwiches, apples, ice, corn-on-the-cob, carrots, etc. (When possible, cut these foods into bite-sized pieces to continue enjoying them during treatment.)
  • Acidic beverages: Fizzy drinks, flavoured water, sports drinks, and fruit juices.

This is not an exhaustive list. If you have questions about foods or drinks you can have, feel free to ask our team!
